IIM-B Inclusive Business Model would not Work

News reports say that Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, under the program ‘Inclusive Business Model’, few students have to leave on meagre Rs. 20 a day. It looks good to hear it but in reality it is another gimmick that business schools across world are engaged into.

If it is possible that one can understand the pains and difficulties of the poor they suffer through by just having 20 rupees in pocket to spend that day for some days and security of returning back to AC rooms and five star dinners, then real world could have been more pleasant than ever. But the reality is that it is just mockery of the poor.

You cannot understand the psychology of the poor without being part of them for a long period. I don’t think this model of so called Inclusive Business would be successful in tapping the bottom of pyramid.
