
1. COVID19 new case count increased by 54,300 to the total of 27,01,604 on 17th August 2020 with 7-days growth rate of 2.53% and a doubling period of 27.7 days. It seems that India is still away from its peak and a conclusive trend reversal is elusive.
2. The 7-days growth rate of the active cases was 0.72% with a doubling period of 95.8 days with the active case count of 6,73,431 on 17th August 2020. Active cases are continuously increasing.
3. The overall positivity rate was 7.83% against the daily positivity rate of 6.03% on 17th August 2020. It’s important that the daily positivity rate falls. Total tests done were 8,99,864 with a cumulative total of 3,09,41,264. Numbers of tests are increasing but there is a need to increase it manifold.
4. The overall recovery rate increased to 73.15% on 17th August 2020 against the daily recovery rate of 107.13%. This is a good indication that daily recovery rate is higher than the overall recovery rate for more than 10 days.
5. Case fatality rate has fallen to 1.92% as on 17th August against the world’s average of 3.53%. It has been consistently falling early April in India.
