India must Support Zoho

I have been noticing attacks on Zoho and its founder, Sridhar Vembu, none but by Indian citizens! Why are Indians opposing a homegrown tech company? Earlier, they did the same with Patanjali and Baba Ramdev!

Not for any particular reason, but because both companies got support from the Government of India! The GoI is endorsing them, and they are gaining traction. So, the people in opposition are duty-bound to oppose anything supported by the GoI!

For this group of people, it doesn't matter whether their behaviour hurts the national interests or not. What matters most to them is their high egos and fake feelings of being special!

Truly speaking, this is the very mentality of Indian citizens, which puts India into an uncomfortable situation and is not good for the country. It's time for the people to get out of their respective silly political egos and support every Indian brand and company that can help India maintain its sovereignty. Technology is not an FMCG product like Patanjali, but technology is about your national capabilities. Every country in the world has supported their homegrown companies, so the governments! Even the US and Chinese governments have been supporting and endorsing their companies to a great extent. This is the only way homegrown companies can turn themselves into a big and powerful company.

We, in India, have never witnessed any kind of social and government empathy towards private companies. And if any government anywhere in India have ever tried to support any private company, they have been accused of corruption!

In the last 30 years, we haven’t seen any Indian company doing anything significant in the critical sector of online technology, even if India has witnessed an era of technical advancements and an explosion. As a result, we are forced to be dependent on all the foreign companies to use and access even the most basic services like messaging, email and hosting. Not only this, but most of the data servers are also based outside India.

So if any company is trying to fill that gap, it becomes our moral responsibility to at least not oppose that company than to bring down a company that is providing employment and skilling our own people as well as creating an ecosystem that promotes innovation and research and entrepreneurship. If we look at the business model that Zoho is using is quite beneficial for India as it is based on the philosophy of decentralisation of the economy. It is giving a successful business model that can help us in skilling and economically empowering rural India.

The consequences of this activism against our own company would be grave for India. It's time to get out of a narrow political mentality and put national interests before political differences.
