Book Review: Be Social: Building Brand You Online by Karthik Srinivasan

Can social media be useful for a common man? There would be very few who will have an affirmative answer to this peculiar question (I guess). At first, it is completely a weird question for most of the people as they know social media as a way to just spend time. Not just to spend but perhaps kill the time! According to most of the people, they simply are addicted for no fruitful purpose. Still it is a kind of lifeline and keeps them engaged and relieves them from FOMO (fear of missing out). They truthfully accept. No excuses!

Although, there is almost a consensus among most of the people that social media has no real value to life and is hardly of any use! At least I believed so for sure. It can be a useful tool in one’s endeavours, was simply a question outside the syllabi before I got into the pages of this book!

India Fight Against Coronavirus: Observation from 15th May 2020 Data

A few observations from 15th May 2020 National Data on the Coronavirus pandemic:-

1. New cases are increasing everyday. In the last one week numbers of new cases increased by more than 3700 new cases everyday. Even 14 days and 21 days daily average are respectively around 3500 and 3000 new cases everyday. India Fight Against Coronavirus: Observation from 14th May 2020 Data

A few observations from 14th May 2020 National Data on the Coronavirus pandemic:-

1. New cases are increasing everyday. In the last two days numbers of new cases were higher than that of the 7 days average of 3500 new cases. This is not good if this trend continues in future. It will make this battle against coronavirus a very long drawn exercise.

Will Economic Relief Package Prove Relief to MSMEs?

The economic relief package of ₹20 Lakh crores includes the money to be spent through fiscal as well as monetary policy responses. However, the actual money that the government would directly be spending to boost economic activities would be around ₹6 Lakh crores; far less than the announced ₹20 Lakh crores. It does not mean that the amount of ₹20 Lakh crores is a token amount. The government through these measures wants to actually increase liquidity by ₹20 Lakh crores in the economy over time. Monetary policy response route is being taken because the government needs to manage fiscal deficit so that there are no significant negative consequences on the front of exchange rate and inflation.

India Fight Against Coronavirus: Observation from 13th May 2020 Data

A few observations from 8th May 2020 National Data on the Coronavirus pandemic:-

1. New cases are increasing everyday. However the daily growth rate has fallen down to 3.5%. The daily growth rate is going down but on an average everyday more than 3500 new cases are increasing. This clearly indicates the long drawn battle against coronavirus.

1. New cases are increasing everyday and the daily growth rate is more than 5% for a long time. It indicates that it will take longer than expected before India is able to contain the spread of coronavirus. Simply it's a long battle altogether and this episode is not going to end so early.

COVID19: Headlines Management in Delhi

It is really very sad and unfortunate to find out that a democratically elected government fails to even maintain the integrity of data, however it is not something new. Previously many governments (states and centre) have intentionally been involved in such practices. Similarly Delhi government seems to be intentionally under reporting the daily data relating to Covid19 confirmed cases as well death toll with the sole purpose of avoiding any negative news headline!

On 8th May 2020 total confirmed cases in Delhi was 562 but the Delhi government published this data in two phases in two days. On 8th May 2020, the government released data that claimed that the total numbers of new confirmed cases in Delhi were 338. It was really good and relaxing to see a decline in daily confirmed cases. But on 9th May evening the Delhi government released a set of data that claimed 224 confirmed cases.

India Fight Against Coronavirus: Observation from 8th May 2020 Data

A few observations from 8th May 2020 National Data on the Coronavirus pandemic:-

1. Total confirmed cases grew at 6.63% with a doubling period of 10.79 days on 8th May that is slightly higher than that of the previous day numbers. Any sign of growth rate in confirmed cases slowing down looks a distant feasibility. If the lockdown was lifted after 14 days on 8th April, the number of total confirmed cases would have been increased to 1,50157 if the doubling period was 7 days.

India Fight Against Coronavirus: Observation from 7th May 2020 Data

A few observations from 7th May 2020 National Data on the Coronavirus pandemic:-

1. Growth in the confirmed cases was 6.6% on 7th May. Almost the same growth was witnessed on 6th May. Not only on 6th May, but since 1st May total confirmed cases are increasing at almost the same growth rate. There is no sign of moderation. Rather, it is increasing however in very small numbers. Confirmed cases are doubling in 10.8 days. If the lockdown was lifted after 14 days on 8th April, the number of total confirmed cases would have been increased to 1,24,506 if the doubling period was 7 days.
